How we rank results

When you search for a plan, the order results appear in is not arbitrary. This is what is taken into account, in the same terms it is written in our search engine.

The criteria you can choose

Relevance
How closely the plan matches what you typed: title, description, category and location. Where matches are equal, the most recent come first.
Date
By when the plan starts, from soonest to furthest away or the other way round.
Price
By the price of a spot. Plans with no applicable price go last.
Rating
By the average rating left by people who attended. Plans not yet rated go last, not first.
Popularity
By actual participation: people signed up to a plan, followers of a profile, or likes on a post. It is not a score we buy or adjust by hand.
Distance
Filters by radius around the point you choose. It narrows what is shown; the order within that area still follows whichever criterion you picked.

What happens if you choose nothing

By default we rank by relevance. Between two equally relevant results, we show the more recent one first, and break ties consistently so that the same result does not jump between pages as you page through.

Can anyone pay to appear higher?

No. We do not sell positions, there are no sponsored results, and no payment — from organisers or anyone else — changes the order of what you see. If that ever changed, it would be labelled as such and we would say so here before applying it.

Ties with organisers

Ranking does not depend on whether an organiser has a paid plan with us, or on the commission they bring in. Our commercial relationship with whoever publishes a plan does not enter the calculation.
